About GODWOR

Godwor is: "GOD With-Out Religion."

Modern religions seem to be more interested in attracting people to their group - than they are in being a community of people who are collectively discovering and enjoying God.
They seem to be more interested in the way you vote - than shepherding you to true personal growth.

We don't hate church, but we need something more.  Something to help us be better people, to strengthen our faith, increase our love, and make the world a better place by helping others.

We're a group who want to 'test' and see if the God of the bible is true and real.  Some of us merely suspect both God and the bible are true, and some of us believe it all the way.  But none of us believes we need to belong to a human organization like today's religions.

So we formed Godwor

We meet in homes, coffee shops, mountain trails, by the pool, online, or wherever we find ourselves.  We study the bible, we serve people, and we encourage each other to do better and grow.  We got the idea from the bible, where it describes the first church this way:

Those who accepted Peter’s message were baptized; and that day there were added about 3,000 souls.  They were continually devoting themselves:
  • to the apostles’ teaching
  • to fellowship
  • to the breaking of bread
  • to prayer

All those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they were sharing with all, as anyone might have need.
Day by day continuing with one mind … and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.  (Acts 2:41-47 my paraphrase)
See the difference between those first disciples and "Christians" of today?  They were Jewish believers - they met in homes daily - their meals were for eating and not ritual - they were glad and sincere (not hypocrites) and they had favor with all the people (they had a good reputation with outsiders).

We are restoring that simple, loving community.  But that's not all!

When they met, they had a purpose...

...and it was also different from today's churches.  Today churches gather to "worship" and "praise" God, even though this is not taught in the bible!  It's a completely man-made tradition.  The bible teaches us that when we gather, everything is to be done to strengthen each other (1 Corinthians 14.26), and to "provoke one another on to love and good works" (Hebrews 10.24).  So that's what we do as well.  We don't meet just to meet, we don't study just to know the rules, but rather we meet to encourage and strengthen each other.

If you need strengthening - if your life is full of stress, anxiety, fear, addiction or other issues ... God can help, and we'll show you how to receive His help.

If you're doing just fine - we can show you how to do better.

If you're doing great - we'll share needs, and you can help us grow stronger, and serve better.

You'll never know how great God is - until you scrape off the crust of religion and find the hidden treasure.
